Graduate Program - [ Thesis Help ]
Our master's degree program requires students to propose and defend a thesis prior to graduation. Students are expected to propose their thesis between late Spring of their first year and early Fall of their second year. The thesis policy is discussed in detail within the Graduate Student Handbook . Students should become very familiar with the policy soon after their arrival on campus.
First-year students typically need to select a research advisor during their first semester to maximize chances of completing the program in a timely fashion. Prospective students and new first-year students alike may find it helpful to browse through a listing of recently completed theses sorted by advisor. Students should also be sure to go to individual faculty members' pages to review research programs, publications and grant activity.
The library offers helpful workshops and consultation sessions on thesis formatting. They also host an informative page that includes useful word processing tips. The Office of Graduate Studies publishes a Thesis Guidelines manual to help with formatting your thesis documents. The Graduate Coordinator should be consulted for a current list of unique formatting requirements for psychology and cognitive science students.
Deadlines can be found at the Office of Graduate Studies homepage and in email announcements from the Graduate Coordinator.
