Cognitive Science Certificate Program - Graduate Program
Cognitive Science is the study of the mind and thought from a number of disciplines (e.g., philosophy, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, psychology, human factors, etc.) using many techniques (e.g., computer modeling, behavioral experimentation, robotics, neuroimaging, etc.). By tackling the questions of mind and thought from a number of different points of view, Cognitive Science hopes to provide answers to questions about the mind that individual disciplines cannot. By working together across traditional boundaries, Cognitive Science has begun to address questions of the mind and thought.
Mississippi State University is well suited to the study of Cognitive Science because of strengths in Engineering, Psychology, Computer Science, Neuroimaging, Human Factors, etc. and a willingness to collaborate across traditional boundaries. To enhance opportunities for interdisciplinary study for students at the University, a Cognitive Science Certificate has been established.
The Cognitive Science Certificate Program recognizes students who pursue a course of study that is consistent with the interdisciplinary nature of the field of Cognitive Science. Students receiving a Cognitive Science certificate will have demonstrated that they are prepared for the jobs that involve a multidisciplinary approach to solving problems.
If you are interested, send a letter of intent to the chair of the Cognitive Science Certificate program outlining the classes that you have or are planning to take to satisfy the requirements (listed below).
