Research Labs - [ Visual Cognition Lab]
The Visual Cognition Laboratory investigates something you do everyday: looking at and for objects in the environment. The goal of this research is to understand the way that people process the visual world and what they remember of it. We use several techniques to examine the way that people explore the environment including tracking where individuals look while viewing a scene or array. Here is an example of the scan pattern of a person looking for white telephones: the green line shows the objects the person looked at. The circles indicate where the person paused (or fixated) during the search.
In addition to searches like the one pictured, we are interested in visual processing of scenes, faces and objects.
